Description

CN film is a high contrast, negative-acting orthochromatic film for production of camera-line or copy-dot negatives.

Features

  • Dimensionally stable
  • High DMax
  • Rapid, uniform vacuum drawdown
  • Excellent for camera halftones
  • Compatible with most rapid access developers

Safelights

Handle film under red safelighting at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) from the film until processed.

Recommended Safelighting:

  • EncapSulite™ R10 standard ortho red safelight
  • Illumination Technology RC Red Arm-A-Safelight
  • Suitable safelight with a Wratten #1A filter

Storage

Keep unexposed film and processed film in a cool, dry place. Process film as soon as possible after exposure.

Exposure

Exposure Sources

  • Process camera--expose film with pulsed xenon or quartz-halogen lamps.

Exposure Suggestions

Using a gray scale, perform an exposure time series test to determine the best exposure. Adjust exposure to produce a solid black Step 3 to solid black Step 4 on the gray scale.

Processing

CN film is best suited for rapid access processing. Refer to the container labels for mixing and other instructions regarding the processing chemicals.

Processing Recommendations

Before handling or using any chemical product, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for health hazard data, precautionary information and suggested first aid.

Use these recommendations as a starting point. For optimum results, use:

  • RLD rapid laser developer (1:4)
  • RLF rapid laser fix (1:6 or 1:5)
Process Time Temp Replenishment Rate (50% Area Exposed)
RLD developer* 20-40 seconds 95°F (35°C) 0.40 ml per sq inch (620 ml per sq meter)
RLF fix 20-40 seconds 90°F (32°C) 0.35 ml per sq inch (540 ml per sq meter)
* These conditions are also applicable to most rapid access processing chemistries.

Film/Filter Factors

When a filter is used, multiply the amount of unfiltered exposure by the filter factor shown below. Because lighting conditions vary, these factors may require adjustments.
